On the still waters April stats show 64 rods producing only 15 fish. Temperature inversion seems to be the key factor here after we experienced the first frosts and the start of the cold season. That said a fine 3kg hen was caught and released on Rocco’s Dam.
117 rods booked onto our river beats producing numerous fish in the 300g – 600g range. What has been encouraging is the number of fish landed over 1kg – 15 in total with the heaviest weighing in at 1.45 kg from the lower beats of the Mzimkulu River. River conditions have been perfect with the great water quality. Late evening dry fly fishing at it’s best.
